Kebbi State — Troops of Sector 2, Operation Fansan Yamma, have overrun Lakurawa terrorist elements in Kebbi State, recovering high-calibre weapons, improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and logistics items during a clearance operation in the North-West region.

The operation, conducted on June 14, 2026, took place around the Dogon Daji general area in Dandi Local Government Area of the state.

The spokesperson of the 8 Division Nigerian Army and Sector 2 Operation Fansan Yamma, Olaniyi Osoba, said the troops engaged the terrorists in a sustained offensive, forcing them to flee their positions.

According to him, the soldiers pursued the fleeing terrorists along their withdrawal routes, leading to the recovery of a cache of abandoned weapons and equipment.

Recovered items included rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) launch tubes, multiple RPG warheads, several improvised explosive devices, two motorcycles used for mobility, battery chargers and other personal belongings.

He confirmed that the troops recorded no casualties during the operation.

Osoba said the success underscores the continued efforts of the Joint Task Force North West under Operation Fansan Yamma to dismantle terrorist and bandit networks across the region.

He added that the Nigerian Army remains committed to maintaining offensive pressure on criminal groups, denying them freedom of action and ensuring the safety of law-abiding citizens in affected communities.
