Governor Yusuf Appoints New Sports Commission, Kano Pillars Board

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has approved the appointment of members of the Kano State Sports Commission and a new Management Board for Kano Pillars Football Club as part of efforts to reposition sports administration and youth development in the state.

The appointments were announced in a statement issued on Thursday by the Director General, Media and Publicity, Government House, Kano, Sunusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa.

According to the statement, Alhaji Tukur Babangida was appointed chairman of the Kano State Sports Commission, while Bashir Maizare will serve as Secretary. Other members include representatives of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), higher institutions and persons with disabilities, alongside key stakeholders in the sports sector.

Those appointed to the commission are Alhaji Balarabe Surajo (Wamban Karaye), Ibrahim Abba, a former director, Auwal Surajo, Sunusi Ismail and the Special Adviser on Youth Affairs, Sani Musa Danja.

Similarly, Governor Yusuf approved the constitution of a new Management Board for Kano Pillars Football Club, with Ahmad Musbahu named chairman.

Other members of the board include veteran football administrator Abba Galadima, Sharu Inuwa Rabiu, Fatima Ibrahim Abubakar, Bashir Idris, a former chairman of the Kano Pillars Fans Club, Abubakar Isa Dandago and Salisu Muhammad Kosawa.

The statement said the appointments take immediate effect and formed part of the administration’s commitment to strengthening sports development and creating opportunities for young people across the state.

Governor Yusuf charged the appointees to justify the confidence reposed in them by using their wealth of experience to improve the sport sector in the State.
