Katsina State governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has visited Hajiya Amina Rabe Abubakar, widow of the late former Director of Defence Information (DDI), Major General Rabe Abubakar, at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Katsina, following her rescue from kidnappers by troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA on Monday.
The governor, accompanied by the Director-General of Media Affairs, Maiwada Dammallam, met with the rescued victim during the visit and wished her a speedy recovery.
Hajiya Amina was rescued after troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA reportedly engaged armed kidnappers in a gun battle during a rescue mission, which left the victim injured.
The development comes a couple of days after her husband, Maj. Gen. Rabe Abubakar, died in bandits’ captivity in Katsina State two weeks after the couple was kidnapped.
Commending the soldiers for their bravery and professionalism, Governor Radda said the operation demonstrated the commitment and capability of security forces in combating kidnapping and banditry in the state.
He noted that the successful rescue had further boosted public confidence in the ongoing collaboration between the State government and security agencies to restore peace and security across Katsina State.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s continued support for security agencies, stressing that every effort would be made to strengthen the fight against criminal elements and ensure the safety of residents.
